Optical velocimetry

Fluid mechanics is the branch of physics that studies the movement of fluids, as well as the forces that cause it, being a very active and typically complex field of research from a mathematical point of view.

Solving a fluid dynamics problem typically involves the calculation of various fluid properties, such as velocity, pressure, density, and temperature, as a function of space and time, in a wide range of applications, such as the calculation of forces and motions. in airplanes, determining the mass flow rate of oil through pipelines and predicting the evolution of weather patterns among others.

In this sense, Optical Velocimetry represents an experimental method to visualize and analyze the speed and profile of different flows, taking advantage of its highly visual nature.
